About the Event

The Corona pandemic made tourism come to a hold. Overtourism turned into no tourism overnight. Policy-makers and tourism stakeholders were confronted with big challenges, but the pandemic also provided a unique opportunity for the tourism sector to re-invent itself in a sustainable and regenerative way. Where do we go from here?

We invited Stephanie Mathas from RAI Amsterdam and Maya Janssen from amsterdam&partners to share their insights and best practise in an interactive webinar setting.

Discover the 'hidden' social value of your company by Stephanie Mathas (SCR manager RAI Amsterdam) - EN

In the context of many social challenges, where can our industry be  part of the solution? Our industry has the power to make a difference.  Stephanie presented a new perspective on the value of our business. She  shared examples on how our industry can have a positive impact to  society by connecting social needs with ‘hidden’ value.

With: Stephanie Mathas, MVO (CSR) Manager, RAI Amsterdam BV.

The Art of Meaningful Hosting by Maarten Bruinsma (Chairman Amsterdam Gastvrij) & Noelle Bongers (Master Student Hotelschool The Hague) - EN

Maarten Bruinsma: How can we bring visitors and residents together in a more durable and resilient form of tourism? How can we bring our visitors off the beaten track and "close the gap" towards a meaningful shared experience ? We will show how the Bed & Breakfasts as a small-scale, personalised accommodation sector can play a crucial role towards a non-extractive visitor economy for all.

Noelle Bongers: How can meaningful  connections between tourists and residents be made, having a positive  impact on the city. How can socio-cognitive mindfulness play a role in  improving the tourist experience so there is a learning aspect, also in  how Bed & Breakfasts and vacation rentals can be protected.
